Politikai botrány a brit lehallgatási ügyből? //Interception cases out of the British political scandal?

2011. július 7. | hozzászólás | Életképek/bulvár

Bombaként robbant a hír, hogy a brit bulvárlap, a News of the World lehallgatta a 2005. július 7-i londoni merényletek áldozatainak családtagjait, illetve feltörte telefonjukat – közölte kedd éjjel a Scotland Yard miután értesítette az érintetteket. Az ügy a brit törvényhozásban is feszültséget gerjesztett, hiszen a lap akkori főszerkesztője David Cameron miniszterelnök sajtófőnökeként folytatta pályafutását.

Tovább mélyült a News of the World lehallgatási botránya Nagy-Britanniában, miután a londoni hatóságok bejelentették, a 2005-ös londoni támadás áldozatainak hozzátartozói is érintettek az ügyben. A családtagoknak a Scotland Yard elmondta, mobilüzeneteiket és hívásaikat Glenn Mulcaire, a lap által alkalmazott magánnyomozó rögzítette közvetlenül a robbantás után. Graham Foulkes – akinek fia, David az Edgare Road metróállomáson vesztette életét – a The Guardian brit napilapnak megerősítette, hogy a rendőrség kapcsolatba lépett vele, mivel telefonszámát és címét is megtalálták a Mulcaire által gyűjtött információk között. Foulkes ügyvédje, Clifford Tibber, aki számos, a merényletben érintett családot képvisel, közölte: “Borzasztó sokként érte ügyfeleimet az eset, miközben épp a támadás hatodik évfordulójára készülnek”.

A brit hatóságok 2001 óta minden gyermek elleni támadást és gyilkosságot különös figyelemmel vizsgálnak, annak hatására, hogy a bulvárlap oknyomozó újságírói egy eltűnt kislány, Milly Dowler telefonját feltörték és abból üzeneteket töröltek. Az akkor 13 éves lány szüleiben hamis reményt tápláltak, illetve a rendőrség munkáját is akadályozták. Mindezt a Guardian hozta nyilvánosságra hétfőn, a Metropolitan rendőrség (Met) által, a magándetektív házából 2006-ban begyűjtött dokumentumokra hivatkozva. Ebből kiderült, a News of the World munkatársai elkezdték törölni az üzeneteket, amikor a kislány telefonja nem tudott többet fogadni, annak reményében, hogy exkluzív értesüléshez jutnak.

A Scotland Yard kedd éjjel közölte, a bulvárlap brit anyavállalata, a News International a 2003-2007 közti kifizetésekről adott át iratokat a Metnek. Az ügy egészen David Cameron brit kormányfő ajtajáig vándorolt, mivel a News of the World akkori főszerkesztője Andy Coulson a lehallgatási ügy miatt lemondott, és Cameron kommunikációs igazgatója lett. A miniszterelnök Coulson januári felmondásáig bőszen védte sajtófőnökét.

A News of the World a The Sun, a The Times napilapok, valamint a Sky televíziócsoport mellett Ruport Murdoch globális médiabirodalmának része. A 163 éve megjelenő bulvárlap rendkívül befolyásos, 11 millió olvasót foglalkoztat.
