Csúnya fordulat: Amerika tényfeltáró bizottságot küld Budapestre Magyarország amerikai mikroszkóp alatt: valós aggodalmak vagy elfogult politikai támadás? )))Nasty turn: America will send a fact-finding commission to Budapest Hungary United States under the microscope: real concerns about biased or political attack?

Ugyanakkor azok, akik a demokrácia védelmében a leghangosabban kritizálják Magyarországot, látványosan figyelmen kívül hagyják a környező országok magyar kisebbségeit érintő intoleráns magatartást és a diszkriminatív intézkedéseket. A támadás iránya hibás – olvasható a közleményben.

Nasty turn: America will send a fact-finding commission to Budapest
Hungary United States under the microscope: real concerns about biased or political attack?

The United States is the largest Hungarian émigré organization, the American Hungarian Federation issued a Notice of Hungary has a politically motivated response to criticisms unworthy Americans. Writing is especially timely, since February, U.S. congressional fact-finding delegation to travel to our country.

The Association considers that it is the accusation that the center-right Hungarian government undermines democracy, is actually a political campaign, part of the 2010 internationally recognized freedom of choice against an overwhelming result.

The American Hungarian Federation is not a new constitution provoked legitimate political debate is concerned, it is the assumption that the process itself was not democratic. You may agree or disagree with the outcome, but if the process is put into question the purity, it suggests that other freely elected governments to watch a similar ordeal before.

That is why the organization is biased political attack instead of objectivity, balanced attaches urges Hungary and other democracies in the region about.

The United States continues to monitor in Central and Eastern Europe to help the democratic institutional system stability. The expansion of NATO, however, except for America escaped the attention of the region, and not interested in the fifty years of communist dictatorship, the economic, moral and spiritual condition caused.

Undoubtedly, the countries of the region was a major step towards democracy and democratic institution-building in the field, but still plenty to be done. However, those who criticize the loudest in defense of democracy in Hungary, spectacularly ignored the Hungarian minorities in neighboring countries concerning the intolerant attitudes and discriminatory actions. The mother country of sharp criticism, however, when the international standards (such as the granting of citizenship) tries to help the legitimate demands of ethnic minorities. The minority rights is a fundamental requirement of democracy, they must therefore be condemned, against those who infringe, not those who are protected. The attack wrong direction – read the statement.

To divest one of America’s major allies and undermine bilateral relations with the biased American jurisprudence? – Ask the question in writing and states that Hungary is a reliable ally of America. The first Orbán government, for example, actively supported the action of NATO in Kosovo, and prohibited to fly over Russian equipment over the country. But Hungary is an important strategic ally in the fight against international terrorism, partner in Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Recently, two American journalists in Libya and also helped rescue.

Besides the Hungarian opposition is clearly committed to American politicians finally be addressed in the majority of the country, which on Jan. 21, hundreds of thousands rally in Budapest who was elected a government. This is not just a matter of principle. The bias in favor of experiencing those Hungarians who have been promoting the Atlantic alliance, again disappointed, frustrated and undermined the bilateral relations. This is not the interests of the United States – makes it a release, but recognizes that there is still room for improvement in Hungarian democracy, and also notes that not all derogatory criticism. However, the association sees: most of the criticism is not based on facts but on speculation.

It is very rare when the Americans a Western-style parliamentary democracy examined under a microscope. But if we do this, two important questions to keep in mind: to transgress the Hungarian government accepted democratic standards in the world? To transgress the country’s democratic norms?

When the same question Gyurcsány’s government have been called – who lies lelepleződésével huge protests calling for life, then these police abuses or ignored drowned out – and no one questioned the democracy in Hungary, despite the government’s credibility and effectiveness of serious problems for . This kind of approach to the current government is able to own.

Although you might Fidesz controversial legislative program, but does not reach the level that would undermine democracy.

The Hungarian law on all sides examined, but no evidence was found that the government to suppress critical voices in the press. There’s nothing to indicate that the state is denying the democratic rights of the opposition to win the next election peacefully in public support. If the opposition wins the next election, and may submit its own laws. If the same two-thirds support to get what is now a Fidesz, the constitution is amended. This is the fundamental principle of democracy.

American criticism of the imbalance in two ways. First, Hungary has intense and unjust criticism accelerated since 2010, when the Fidesz won the election. Sources are limited to persons related to the Hungarian opposition and their supporters. Second, ignore the Hungarian minorities, human rights action against the neighboring countries.
The American people the facts, to encourage a balanced discussion of the construction of democratic institutions. Support to Western values, but do not serve political purposes – a warning notice at the end of the American Hungarian Federation.
