A magyar alaptörvény legutóbbi módosításai megkérdőjelezik a demokrácia és a független igazságszolgáltatás alapját, és megsértik az európai alapelveket – mondta Hannes Swoboda, az Európai Parlament (EP) szocialista frakciójának vezetője a Die Zeit című német hetilap online kiadásában megjelent interjúban.

Az osztrák politikus úgy vélte: a módosítások révén még rosszabb helyzetbe kerülnek a diákok, a melegek, a hajléktalanok és “alapvetően mindenki, aki megszenvedi az egyébként is nehéz gazdasági helyzetet”.

A liberális hetilapnak arra a kérdésére, hogy miként értékeli Orbán Viktor magatartását, Swoboda úgy fogalmazott, hogy a miniszterelnök egykor a szabadságot védte, jelenleg viszont mások szabadságát korlátozza. Ezt az átváltozást “mélyen sajnálom” – mondta az osztrák politikus. Hozzátette: Orbán Viktor vélhetően “annyira a hatalom megszállottja lett”, hogy nem adná fel hatalmát egykönnyen.

Azzal kapcsolatban, hogy megfigyelhetők-e párhuzamosságok a magyar és a román helyzet között, elmondta: megítélése szerint nem vonható párhuzam a két ország között, bár Romániában valóban “voltak pillanatok”, amikor felmerült a magyarországihoz hasonló helyzet kialakulásának veszélye.
