Antiszemitizmus Magyarországon: Amerika figyel

Budapest – Tucatnyi amerikai és nemzetközi zsidó szervezet levelet intézett John Kerry amerikai külügyminiszterhez, akit arra kérnek, hogy a zsidógyűlölet magyarországi fokozódására tekintettel tartsa napirenden az intolerancia és a diszkrimináció témáját az amerikai-magyar kapcsolatokban.

A levelet egyebek között a Zsidó Világkongresszus (WJC), a zsidó jóvátételi világbizottság (WJRO), a Simon Wiesenthal Központ, az Amerikai Zsidó Bizottság (AJC) és a Rágalmazásellenes Liga (ADL) vezető képviselői írták alá.

A dokumentumban emlékeztetnek arra, hogy Magyarországon él ma Közép-Európa legnépesebb, több mint százezres lélekszámú zsidó közössége. Utalnak az amerikai külügyminisztérium 2012-es emberi jogi jelentésére, amely felhívja a figyelmet az e közösséget érintő számos nyugtalanító fejleményre.

E jelentésben szerepel az idegengyűlölő és antiszemita Jobbik párt felemelkedése és az, hogy Magyarországon olyan személyeket rehabilitálnak és dicsőítenek, akik a második világháború idején nyíltan antiszemiták és fasisztabarátok voltak. A gondok között említik a zsidó személyekkel és intézményekkel szembeni fokozódó erőszakot, továbbá az antiszemita anyagok terjedését a médiában, az interneten és az utcákon.

A zsidó szervezetek vezetői úgy látják, mindez összhangban van a magyarországi közvéleményben tapasztalható, növekvő antiszemitizmussal. Emlékeztetnek a Rágalmazásellenes Liga (ADL) amerikai zsidó jogvédő szervezet által (hét országban, így Magyarországon is) végzett felmérésre, amelyből kiderült, hogy a magyarországi megkérdezettek 63 százaléka a hagyományosan negatív sztereotípiákat és véleményeket osztja a zsidóságról.

Az aláírók a zsidók és más kisebbségek (különösen a romák) elleni növekvő magyarországi gyűlöletre való tekintettel sürgetik az amerikai diplomácia vezetőjét, hogy az intolerancia és a diszkrimináció kérdését nyíltan tartsa napirenden az amerikai-magyar kétoldalú kapcsolatokban. Arra ösztönzik Kerryt, hogy ezt a témát személyesen is vesse fel a magyar vezetőkkel folytatott közvetlen tárgyalásokon.
