Lemondott egy republikánus elektor, mert nem akar Trumpra voksolni
Art Sisneros texasi republikánus elektor inkább lemondott erről a megbízatásáról, mintsem Donald Trumpra adja voksát az amerikai elnökválasztás utolsó fázisában, a december 19-i elektori választáson.
Az elektori voks azonban nem vész kárba, mert a Republikánus Párt kijelöl helyette egy másik személyt, aki ugyanúgy szavazhat a megválasztott elnökre.
Az elektori rendszert annak érdekében alkalmazzák az Egyesült Államokban, hogy egy-egy szövetségi államnak ne legyen túlzott befolyása, a népes államok ne tudják maguk felé mozdítani az ingát. A rendszer alapján az elnököt hivatalosan a különböző államokban tartott előválasztások során megválasztott 538 elektornak a kollégiuma, testülete választja meg. Az elektorok mindazonáltal már nem voksolhatnak szabadon, a legtöbb állam az összes elektori voksot arra a jelöltre adja, aki az államban a szavazatok többségét begyűjtötte.
A rendszer alapján Art Sisnerosnak is Trumpra kellene szavaznia. A texasi elektor azonban már augusztusban kifejtette fenntartásait Trumppal kapcsolatban a Politico című lap munkatársának, és hétfőn a blogjában, azaz internetes naplójában közzé is tette, hogy inkább lemond és átadja szavazatát egy másik, ezt követően kijelölendő elektornak. Az ő internetes naplóját azonban alig követi valaki, így az információ csak jóval később került napvilágra – írja az MTI.
Sisneros a lelkiismeretére és a Bibliára hivatkozott, s mint írta: „Úgy hiszem, ha Trumpra szavazok, ezzel tisztességtelenséget követek el Istennel szemben.” Kifejtette azt is: bár esküt tett arra, hogy a republikánus elnökjelöltet támogatja, de az esküben „nem esett szó az elnökséghez szükséges, bibliai értelemben vett képzettségről, ezért maga az eskü erkölcstelen”. Azt viszont nem fejtette ki, hogy miben is állna ez a „bibliai értelemben vett képzettség”.
Hozzátette: „A valóság az, hogy Trump lesz az elnökünk, az én döntésem nem számít.”
A texasi Republikánus Párt vezetője, Thomas Mechler amarillói politikus közleményben szögezte le, hogy „tiszteletben tartjuk Sisneros úr döntését, és méltányoljuk visszalépési szándékát az elektori pozíciótól”.
A texasi republikánusok még a december 19-i elektori választások előtt kijelölik az új elektort.
