Rákot okozhatott a gyomirtó, felfoghatatlanul nagy kártérítést ítélt meg a bíróság

A Monsanto vegyipari óriáscég köteles csaknem 290 millió dolláros kártérítést fizetni rákkeltő gyomirtói egyik áldozatának egy San Franciscó-i bíróság pénteki döntése értelmében.

– hangoztatta a Bayer cég szóvivője szombaton.

A cég fellebbez

A glifozátot világszerte alkalmazzák, tudományos megítélése ellentmondásos.

Cancer could have caused the herbicide, unimaginably large damages judged by the court

The Monsanto chemical giant must pay $ 290 million in compensation to one of the victims of a carcinogenic herbivore in a San Francisco court ruling Friday.

The jury recently said that Bayer was a company owned by the German chemical giant that, while aware of the carcinogenic effect of Roundup’s herbicide, it did not inform its customers about the possible consequences of using the drug.

Bayer reported on Saturday a lack of understanding of the judgment, emphasizing that glyphosate in herbicide

“safe, non-carcinogenic”. “The decision contradicts the results of scientific research that have shown no relation between glyphosate use and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma”

– said the Bayer spokesman on Saturday.

Beginning in June, the first of its kind was the first one: it was first said in court that the glyphosate containing Roundup herbicide carcinogen and the first lawsuit in this case was one of the victims. Thousands of additional casualties are expected to be filed against Monsanto after the perpetration, but according to US press reports thousands of such cases are ongoing nationwide.

A gardener won the lawsuit

The 46-year-old DeWayne Johnson, with two children, has lymphoma (a malignant lymphatic system of the lymphatic system) and was thought to be the herbicide produced by Monsanto. Johnson works as a horticultor in a San Francisco tank and has been using the Roundup and Ranger Pro containing glyphosate since 2012 to spice the gardens of the schools he cares and the surrounding parks.

Cancer could have caused the herbicide, unimaginably large damages judged by the court

In 2014 he was diagnosed with lymphoma and in 2016 he was suicide Monsanto because he did not disclose the harmful effects of herbicides.

“We did not think we could end the verdict”

“said victim victim lawyer Timothy Litzenburg of NBC television.

The American TV channels have been reported on the subject. DeWayne Johnson, who has been incapacitated since 2016, has apparently shown a weak physical condition. “I know that I will not heal, but I will fight for the last breath,” he said in the courtroom.

The company appeals

After the Friday judgment, Monsanto issued a statement informing him that he appealed against the judgment and the exact $ 287 million compensation. The company always denied that they would cause glyphosous herbicide cancer.

While expressing condolences to the applicant and his family for serious illness, Scott Patridge, Vice President of Monsanto, stressed that “this decision does not change the fact that more than 800 scientific studies and reviews have shown that glyphosate is not carcinogenic. Monsanto is determined to protect its product, the use of which for 40 years has been a safe and necessary tool for farmers and others, “he added.

Glyphosate is used globally, its scientific judgment is controversial. The International Center for Cancer Research (IARC) of WHO (World Health Organization) (WHO), in 2015, described this colorless crystalline and water-soluble organic substance as “likely to be carcinogenic”, while the European Union institutions, including EFSA, did not stand.

In November last year, the European Union renewed its authorization to market glyphosate-containing chemicals for another five years.
