A felújításig Olof Palme-háznak hívott épületről két dolog is hiányzik.

There’s a bit of a problem with the newly opened Millennium House: the reconstruction wasn’t complete

Until the renovation, the building called Olof Palme House is missing two things.

The sharp-edged editor of the Facebook page, Budapest Sculptures, noticed that although it was a complete reconstruction, a building that glorified in its old splendor, the 130-year-old jewelery box’s main façade, closed as Olof Palme House and reopened as Millennium House, lacks the ornaments. However, they are clearly visible in the visualization of the renovation, even though the two works have not been on the main facade for many years when they started the restoration. The question is, if they are not on the building, where they are and why they have not been replaced.

Visualization before the renovation: both sculptures are on the main facadeAll people recognize that the Millennium House has been beautiful, but it is strange that no one said a word when something was missing from the renovated building. It was as if they had crowned a king with the Hungarian crown, but they did not dare say to the poor that the crown, unfortunately, was missing the cross. We don’t understand that much, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find that someone has something behind their ears. They may not have been wrong with it, so those winged statues were not there for a long time, and now they won’t notice their lack. But let’s say you didn’t have to redesign them and show them designs. Nevertheless, the author of the Budapest Sculpture Facebook page still hopes to have an adequate explanation for the shortfall. He adds that there was money and will to build a Zsolnay fountain that was never there, then what happened to the works in question? Possible answers of the author: there was no adequate source material for reconstruction; not ready in time (and will be seen later); there was no intention of it; something else. Guess we don’t dare. But goodbye, we’ll show you what the Millennium House should have looked like after a real, truly complete reconstruction:
