Ha körülnézünk Európában, nincs még egy olyan kormány, amely hagyta magát ennyire messzire sodródni a valóságtól egy hazugsággyár által, amit ráadásul nagyrészt az adófizetők pénzéből építettek fel – mondta Guy Verhofstadt a 168 Órának adott interjújában.

Mit mondta, elég csak megnézni a híreket az MTVA csatornáin ahhoz, hogy képet kapjunk arról, milyen párhuzamos univerzumot hozott létre a Fidesz, hogy elhitesse a szavazóival, valójában abban élnek.

Arra a kérdésre, támogatja-e a bevándorlást, Verhofstadt elmondta, hogy amit mindig is támogatott, az az ellenőrzött és legális lehetősége annak, hogy külföldiek jöjjenek Európába, hozzájárulva ezzel a gazdaság teljesítményéhez.

Orbán Viktor leghangosabb európai parlamenti kritikusaként kiváló célpontja lehetek a propagandagépezetének. Ha az Orbánnal szembeni beszédeim személyes tartalmúak, az azért van, mert ő ennek az illiberális államnak a legfőbb képviselője. De a bírálataim túlmutatnak a személyén, jóval szélesebb körűek. Magyarország problémái ugyanis nem fognak megszűnni Orbán távozásával, ezt a fajta kormányzást kell megváltoztatni

– közölte az Európai Parlament liberális frakciójának (ALDE) vezetője, majd hozzátette, hogy a Fidesz arra használta a parlamenti többségét az elmúlt nyolc évben, hogy egymaga változtassa meg az alkotmányt, csorbítsa az igazságszolgáltatás függetlenségét, és súlyosan korlátozza a véleménynyilvánítás szabadságát.

Az EU hangot adhat ugyan a kritikáinak, de Orbánt csak a magyar szavazók állíthatják meg, csak ők vethetnek véget antiliberális álmainak. Viszont nekünk meg kell bizonyosodnunk arról, hogy eközben Orbán nem teszi-e tönkre az EU-t

– szögezte le.

Verhofstadt szerint az Európai Néppárt egésze még nem változtatta meg az Orbánról kialakított álláspontját, de egyre több olyan hang hallatszik odabentről, hogy ki kell lökni soraikból a magyar miniszterelnököt.

Mégis mi lehetne a közös bennük és abban az emberben, aki ma már nem keresztény és nem is demokrata?

– kérdezte, mondván, a Néppártnak el kellene határolódnia Orbántól, és oda küldeni, ahova tartozik: „a politika trágyadombjára, az új, populista barátaival együtt”.
