Segítség helyett kölcsönt ajánl az Orbán-kormány az akár tízszeres rezsit fizető cégeknek////Instead of help, the Orbán government offers loans to companies that pay up to ten times the overheads

Vélhetőleg hasonló színvonalú válaszra számíthat Tóth Bertalan a postai leépítések és a hatalmas MVM-számlák közötti összefüggéseket firtató, Lantos Csaba energiaügyi, illetve a Magyar Posta tulajdonosi jogait birtokló Nagy Márton gazdaságfejlesztési tárcavezetőnek címzett, minapi megkeresései kapcsán is.

Instead of help, the Orbán government offers loans to companies that pay up to ten times the overheads

The power purchase contracts concluded between the state-owned MVM and corporate customers, cementing the huge stock market prices at the end of last year until the whole of 2023, lead to high inflation and downsizing. The Orbán government would not amend it.

As usual, Zsófia Koncz, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, gave an evasive response to MSZP faction leader Bertalan Tóth’s written suggestions regarding utility prices.

According to the opposition politician, the decrease in inflation is greatly hindered by the fact that at the end of last year, most of the domestic small and medium-sized enterprises paid HUF 180-300 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), mainly annual or even longer concluded long-term power purchase contracts with the state MVM.

With this, the customers’ utilities could even increase tenfold, because currently the electricity price on the stock exchange is around HUF 60-70 per kilowatt hour.

Bertalan Tóth questions whether the long-term, fixed-price contracts of commercial chains can be modified, and whether the cabinet supports Hungarian businesses paying a price for electricity that is in line with the world market price.

The State Secretary’s response blames the high prices on the failed Brussels sanctions. (This common statement of government propaganda is not verified by non-government experts.) This put the Hungarian economy, which consumes a lot of energy, in a difficult situation. The Orbán government adopted a package of 20 measures to combat “sanctioned inflation”. Zsófia Koncz recommends the loan and capital program named after Gábor Baross and the Széchenyi Card program to Hungarian industry. The answer, which is at least toothless, can perhaps be interpreted as the fact that the cabinet does not take measures to amend the MVM’s corporate contracts, which cement huge tariffs, but is happy to help pay the huge overheads with a loan or capital.

Bertalan Tóth can probably expect a response of a similar standard in connection with his inquiries the other day addressed to Csaba Lantos, head of energy affairs, and Márton Nagy, who owns the ownership rights of Magyar Posta, who is investigating the connections between postal downsizing and the huge MVM bills. According to the investigations of the opposition faction leader, at the end of last year Magyar Posta signed a fixed-price electricity purchase contract of 192 forints per kWh with MVM until 2023. Given that electricity prices on the stock exchange have halved since then, the state post office could save HUF 2.2 billion per year with a HUF 85 tariff. The amount would cover the wages of about 550 of the 1,200 workers who announced their layoffs at the end of February. (The fact that the state-owned Paks Nuclear Power Plant produces electricity for around HUF 12 and the Mátrai one for around HUF 24 per kWh provides even greater savings.) The socialist father-in-law is interested in whether the contract between the two state-owned companies can be amended, why Magyar Posta such a disadvantageous contract and why MVM is profiting from the employees of the other state company.

In a Facebook post, the leader of the socialist faction emphasized his indignation over the case. “Is there a better example of how the profiteering of the Orbán government harms the workers? 1,200 people will lose their jobs, but the profits collected at MVM will line the pockets of the NER oligarchs,” says Bertalan Tóth.
